The City of Round Rock has achieved prominence as one of the best cities in Texas with numerous accolades to its credit. Below is a list of some of the recognition it has received:
Round Rock No. 4 safest city in the nation
Round Rock was ranked the No. 4 safest city in the United States, based on crime rates for murder, assault, rape, burglary, and other crime statistics by city. The ranking by niche.com is based on data from the FBI and U.S. Census.The 2016 Safest Cities ranking provides a comprehensive assessment of the overall safety at the city level. This grade takes into account key indicators of a location’s safety, including violent and property crime rates, in an attempt to measure an area’s safety and security.
Round Rock was the only city in Texas to make the top 10.
No. 2 best city in Texas to raise a family
From splish-splashin’ good times to seventh-inning hot dog runs, expansive park and trail system, hometown downtown and never-ending family-friendly event schedule, our community is no stranger to making memories and having fun. But that’s not the only reason Livability selected Round Rock as the runner-up, No. 2 best city for families in Texas – it’s also got a lot to do with our strong economy, relatively low cost of living and high availability of quality jobs close to home.
Round Rock ranked No. 4 among “Best Affordable Places to Live” in America
Livablity.com’s editors looked at cities across the country, evaluating not only cost of living but its own LivScore. According to the editors: “Most Round Rock residents spend less than 28 percent of their salaries on housing and about seven percent less on groceries and utilities than the average American, according to The Council for Community and Economic Research. Health care and other living expenses hover at or below the national average as well, leaving residents with plenty of money to enjoy the many things there are to do in and around Round Rock.”
Round Rock ranked 9th fastest growing city in America
Round Rock has again been ranked one of the fastest growing cities in America. This time by Zippia.
Their analysis looked at the growth rates for cities over the last five years, according to the American Community Survey, which is released by the U.S. Census Bureau annually. With this data, all 303 cities with populations of 100,000 or more were ranked from highest growth rate to lowest.
Round Rock has been ranked the one of the safest cities with a population of 100,000 or more in the United States since 2007. In a 2014 Survey of city residents, 93 percent of respondents said they felt “safe” or “very safe” overall, with 90 percent saying they felt safe in Downtown (21 points higher than the national rating) and 86 percent felt safe in City Parks (21 points higher than national rating).
“Very few fast-growth communities can maintain such high rankings year after year,” Mayor Alan McGraw said. “Our continued presence on this list reflects the City’s continued emphasis on public safety and the commitment and proficiency of our law officers. Our citizens also deserve recognition for their support and proactive involvement in keeping Round Rock safe.”
